One of the key stages of the onion season has begun in UVG's fields – the harvest. By this point, the crop has completed a full growing cycle – from sowing to market-ready produce.
Harvesting is carried out mechanically, taking into account the readiness of the produce for further transportation and storage in our vegetable storage facilities. The UVG team controls the process at every stage to ensure proper crop quality and minimise possible damage during field operations.
Particular attention is paid to careful handling of the produce, as its marketable characteristics are formed not only during cultivation but also in the process of harvesting, transportation, and subsequent storage.
For UVG, the harvest is not the end of the work with the crop but a transition to the next stage. It is important to preserve the result that has been built up throughout the season.
UVG's onion range this season includes three varieties: yellow, red, and white. The produce is stored under controlled conditions in the company's own vegetable storage facilities and is ready for sale.
